Our Policies

Our policies help ensure all Code Clubs are safe for young people and mentors to attend.

Our commitment to safeguarding

We want to ensure that all young people at Code Club can develop their digital skills in a fun and safe environment. Code Club is committed to following best practices when it comes to safeguarding, and we do all we can to make sure that club leaders and mentors know how to protect themselves and the children they work with.

At Code Clubs in schools, mentors should always be supervised by school staff during the sessions.

How to report a safeguarding concern

A safeguarding concern is anything that makes you think twice about a child’s safety or welfare.

If you have a safeguarding concern, you should first raise it with the the staff managing your club venue. All safeguarding concerns identified as a result of participating in a Code Club should also be reported directly to the Code Club team using our safeguarding report form.

You can also contact us on safeguarding@raspberrypi.org or if you have an urgent concern, call our free safeguarding number +44 (0)800 1337 112 which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Code Club Charter

When you sign up as a club mentor, you will agree to our Code Club Charter. All mentors should also follow our code of behaviour.

Mentor Guidelines

Before starting a Code Club, club mentors must complete any necessary local background checks specified by law in the club’s region.

We also strongly recommend that everyone who volunteers with the Raspberry Pi Foundation and its programmes, including Code Club, complete our safeguarding training.

The interactive module takes around 30 minutes to complete and provides practical advice on safeguarding that will help mentors create a safe learning environment for everyone they engage with.

Using the Code Club brand

Many people ask us if they can use our brand assets such as our logo on websites, social channels, or other materials for their clubs.

We value our brand identity as it represents the recognition and trust the community has in the quality of our products and resources. However, we also understand that it’s important for Code Clubs to be able to adapt these resources to suit their needs. To balance these needs, we've produced these guidelines to help you adapt our materials while maintaining our brand identity.

Feel free to contact us at support@codeclub.org if you would like to discuss this further.
