Sessions will resume in October 2024. The calendar of session will be published in August on our website www.coderdojoku.org.
Example programme. Full details for each Dojo can be found on Eventbrite booking page
===========================================
Free event open to children aged 7 to 17 accompanied by a parent or carer. Please only book one ticket for each child.
Newcomers and beginners welcome!
Mini Raspberry Pi Jam: Build electronic circuits and use Scratch or Python to program them. Light an LED and modify the code to build a reaction time game. Program a buzzer then use it to make an intruder alarm. Build an interface between Minecraft and the physical world. And while all this is going on, explore the Linux operating system at the heart of the wonderful Raspberry Pi and find out why more than 5 million of this Great British computer have been sold around the world. Session uses Club Pis
Scratch: Whether you're a beginner or have done lots of Scratch already, we've plenty of cool video game projects to choose from and make. If you prefer, create your own game or animation with the help of our wizard mentors. If you like maths, build an app to process or sort numbers. Session uses Club PCs.
Python: Over the coming sessions, develop your coding skills in this powerful grown-up scripting language (and have fun too!) by creating guessing games, interactive jokes, fantasy games, noughts & crosses and lots more. You will be placed in a Python group on arrival depending on how many Python sessions you have attended in the past. This helps us make sure you get the best out of the afternoon. Bring your own laptop if possible, or book a Club laptop. A Windows laptop will work best for getting Python up and running. However, we do have a Mac expert who can help install the Python software on a Mac.
If in doubt about which ticket type or activity to choose, feel free to email us for advice :-)
Terms of participation:
A parent or carer must accompany their child/children throughout the session and take responsibility for them and for their belongings while on Ham & Petersham Youth Centre premises. Being cool means no bullying, lying or wasting people's time. Please show respect for the Centre's equipment and building; and have consideration for others at all times.
