Headshot of Code Club manager for Wales, Sarah Roberts.

Sarah, Wales

Sarah supports clubs across Wales, helping new leaders get set up and connected locally. She has run several Code Clubs and knows exactly what it’s like to get started.

Her top tip:

“To keep my club from getting distracted by games during the session, I save 10 minutes at the end of each session just for gaming. You could also set the rule ‘only games made at Code Club can be played at Code Club’."

Headshot of Code Club Coordinator for Scotland, Rebecca Gracher.

Rebecca, Scotland

Rebecca supports the community in Scotland and runs her own club too. Her top tip:

“I’m not afraid to say ‘I don’t know’. No one expects me to be an expert and figuring out a solution together is extra rewarding!”

Helen, North of England

Helen works with schools and community venues to grow thriving clubs across the North of England. She runs a community club based in her local university library and says

“The most rewarding part of running a club for me is watching the children develop their resilience, teamwork and confidence every session. I love that they have agency over what they create and no two children make the same thing, even if they’re doing the same project!”

Headshot of Code Club Coordinator for the Midlands (England), Rujeko Moyo

Rujeko, Midlands, England

Rujeko supports clubs across the Midlands, from first sign-up through to running confident, sustainable sessions. Her top tip for getting started?

“Encourage your creators to bring their creativity, own interests and lived experiences into the many projects they’ll create in your club — they’ll enjoy and value every coding experience.”

Headshot of Code Club manager for South England, Steph Barton

Steph, South of England

Steph supports our fabulous network of Code Club leaders in the South of England. She also helps new clubs to get up and running, supporting individuals, community organisations, businesses and schools as they take their first stepns on their Code Club journey.

Her top tip when getting started:

“The first session probably won’t be perfect and that’s okay! It takes time to shape your club around your community, so allow yourself the time and space to trial and test ideas across the first few sessions.”
