About Us

CoderDojo is a volunteer led community that provides free coding clubs for young people. At Dojos, participants can learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games & lots more. Our goal is to create an environment that excites and engages all of our participants in technology!

CoderDojo is a relaxed, fun environment that encourages peer learning. Although our mentors will be present to guide projects and assist along the way, there is no lecturing or traditional teaching. Ninjas (students) learn on their own as well as from each other. Dojos offer members a fun and sociable space to learn how to code and also develop skills such as presenting their work and helping peers to solve problems. 

Our Sessions

Our sessions are beginner friendly and will focus on learning how to code using Scratch. No prior coding experience or knowledge is required. Sessions usually last 1-1.5 hours and concentrate on creating interactive animations and games.

All projects are completed using open source (free) software.

Laptops are preferred for online sessions (if ninjas do not have access to a laptop they can use a tablet or smartphone but they may find it more difficult to participate in the project and virtual session simultaneously on these devices).
