Accounts for creators

Learn more about Raspberry Pi Foundation accounts that young people, or creators, can use in their local Code Club.

Raspberry Pi Foundation Accounts

Club leaders create an account for themselves, when they register their Code Club on our website. This allows them to manage the club's profile, create ticketed events, email their clubs subscribers and easily access resources to help with running a club.

However, anyone can register for a Raspberry Pi Foundation account. Creators can use Raspberry Pi Foundation accounts to:

  • save their work in our Code Editor
  • track their progress as they work through our project paths
  • and earn digital badges.

Registering for a Raspberry Pi Foundation account is not a requirement; creators can use the Code Editor and access all our digital making projects without an account.

If you decide to encourage your creators to register for a Raspberry Pi Foundation account, be aware that creators under the age of 13 years will need a parent or guardian to use their email address to set up the account.

This can pose challenges during Code Club sessions where parents or guardians are not present, as you will not have the ability to reset passwords, verify accounts, or find account details for your creators.

Creators aged 13 and over can create a Raspberry Pi Foundation account without needing permission from a parent or guardian.

The letter below explains to parents and guardians how they can set up Raspberry Pi Foundation accounts for their children.

Other useful accounts

Many Code Clubs use the Scratch programming language in their sessions. To help young people work through our Scratch projects, we recommend creators have a Scratch account to allow them to save and share their work.

Creators can create their own Scratch accounts with a parent or guardian at home, and bring their login details to the club sessions. Alternatively, club leaders can create Scratch Student Accounts for their creators if they register for a Scratch Teacher Account.
